An open house video promotes an upcoming open house.

It shows the home's highlights along with the date, time and address, and it's usually posted a few days before the event and again the day before or that morning to boost attendance. Open houses depend on people actually showing up, and a short video reaches far more people than a sign or a note in the listing.

Shared on social media, in local groups, by email and through targeted ads, it puts the event in front of buyers and neighbors who might not hear about it otherwise.

What to include

  • "Open House" with the date and time, large and clear, at the start and the end.
  • The address or neighborhood.
  • Four to six highlight shots of the home.
  • Anything special about the event, like refreshments or a first showing of the weekend.
  • A simple call to action: "See you Saturday," "Save the date" or "DM for details."

Format tips

  • Vertical for Reels, Stories and TikTok, kept under 30 seconds.
  • Captions on everything, since many viewers are muted.
  • Post more than once: an announcement, a reminder and a "happening now" clip on the day.

If you promote it with paid ads in the U.S., remember that housing ads on Meta run under the Special Ad Category, which limits targeting options. After the event, reuse the footage for a follow-up post or a recap for buyers who couldn't make it.
