Source photo quality

Definition

Source photo quality is how good the original photos are before any AI editing or video generation.

It's the single biggest factor in how AI listing videos and virtual staging turn out. AI can add motion, furniture or a twilight sky, but it can't add detail that isn't in the image.

What "good" looks like for AI

  • Sharp focus, with no motion blur.
  • Even exposure: windows not blown out, corners not crushed to black.
  • Straight vertical lines, shot from around chest height.
  • Moderate wide angles. Extreme wide lenses stretch the edges of a room, and camera motion can exaggerate that stretch.
  • Decluttered rooms, since clutter gives the model more to misread.
  • Whole rooms in frame, with a clear sense of depth.

Common problems and what they lead to: dark or noisy photos produce smeared textures, tilted lines produce wobbly walls once the camera moves, tight crops give the AI nothing to move through, and large mirrors or glass can create odd reflections. For video, coverage matters too.

Fifteen to twenty photos that walk through the home in order make a better video than forty random angles. If you want continuous motion between two shots of the same room, take them from nearby positions with overlapping detail.
